Sanxia Airport Road, about 3.5 kilometers long, starts from the exit of Xiaoting Toll Station of Wuhan - Yichang Highway and ends at Sanxia Airport parking lot.
　　The route of the integrated reconstruction of Sanxia Airport Road is from Xiaoting Toll Station of Shanghai - Chongqing Highway to the west of the terminal square of Sanxia Airport with a length of 3,558 meters. The project has been Pided into two stages. First is road greening and landscaping. The roads will be widened from the current bidirectional four lanes to bidirectional eight lanes, and two underpasses will be added to Xianfeng Road and Qilichong Road respectively. About 1,100-meter roads of adjacent Xianfeng Road, Qilichong Road and Huangqi Road will be reconstructed. Second is the reconstruction of the station square of Sanxia Airport Terminal and Xiaoting Toll Station of Shanghai - Chongqing Highway.
　　So far 96% of the road engineering and 95% of the landscaping engineering in first stage has been completed. The reconstruction of the station square of the Terminal has been basically completed and now is in its tail-in work. The reconstruction of Xiaoting Toll Station of Shanghai - Chongqing Highway has been finished 80% and the execution of mechanical and electrical installation is about to begin.
　　A Road with Eco-harmony
　　On March 17th, when driving on the comfortable and broad Sanxia Airport Road, rows of trees and clusters of plants on the two sides will give you a visual feast. According to Dixianjun, the principal of the integrated reconstruction of Sanxia Airport Road, the ecological landscape of both sides is a prominent feature in this project, and the total area of landscaping reached 200,000 square kilometers.
　　Di said, “one of the keynotes in the reconstructing is to adjust measures to local conditions,  which is to make use of the hills landform in Yichang to reconstruct leaning on hills and reduce the environmental destruction from large-scale filling and digging. Besides, in choosing plants, we mainly chose the local nursery stock, arbores such as osmanthus fragrans, robinia pseudoacacia, cinnamomum camphora, photinia fraseri and magnolia gradiflora. And we also chose shrubs such as oleander, lagerstroemia indica, photinia fraseri ball and sophora xanthantha.”

　　The integrated reconstructing works of Three Gorges Airport Road is part of municipal roads project, whereas there are some restraining factors. Firstly, along the road stand many pipelines of power and water supplies, correspondence, air supply ect; therefore, all of the pipelines have been moved and buried in order to ensure the regular supplies for the airport and residents around. .
