According to the "One motion" put forwarded by Yichang Municipal People\'s Congress, the Bureau of Housing & Construction of Yichang City, the Bureau of Urban Planning, the Bureau of Land and Resource as well as the Bureau of Water Resources and other departments make joint effort to solve problems in removing dredged sediment, dismantling illegal construction, controlling pollution and constructing landscape projects, which aims to revive the beautiful riverside landscape along the canal. Yesterday, reporters learned from Yichang Municipal Construction Committee that the government of Yichang city would invest 50 million yuan in environmental management along the canal as well as in the construction of building the canal a remarkable model project to represent the Greenway construction of Yichang city.　　
　　People to appreciate beautiful landscape and enjoy leisure life
　　Walking along the canal, you will be impressed by the pleasant scenery with clear water and green forest near the bank. People can appreciate beauty of flowers and plants when crossing the ecological corridors along the canal. On the weekend, we can see people, who are attracted by the beautiful landscape, come here and have a leisure walk or go sightseeing and enjoy a happy life.
　　"This is a project to benefit the people, and to provide us with a good ecological, recreational environment, which has greatly improved the happiness index of people. We are grateful for what we have achieved and we will make more contribution to the construction of an ecological civilization. " said Xiao Qidong, a 61-year-old man lived in the Jiaheyuan Community who has a walk with his wife along the canal after their lunch, and he told the reporter that since there is a better place for recreation, they can take a leisure walk with his wife there at any time .
　　In the past, the desolate dilapidated canal was filled with piles of garbage and sewage, with tombs everywhere. Nowadays, it has become a beautiful landscape in the whole city.
　　It is reported that three years, the city has carried out sanitation rectification along the canal for four times, and has cleaned up more than 30 sanitary dead space with more than 90 tons of construction waste. Besides, 15 new garbage removal points have been set up and 20 garbage containers have been replaced.
　　Focusing on the governance of the landslide and collapse near Yinlunhuangdu, Lujiawan and Heiyanwu, the Municipal Land and Resource Bureau actively apply for project approval and funding grants to Hubei Provincial Land and Resources Bureau after carrying out investigation and feasibility study in the environmental governance. These projects of governance are expected to be completed respectively in June and August of 2014. The project of preventing collapses in Black Rock House, undertaken by Yichang Municipal Construction Committee, will be finished in April 2014 with a total investment of about ￥300 million.　　
　　We have succeeded in removing illegal buildings of 50,000 square meters, clearing more than 200 vegetable fields of 40,000 square meters, and in relocating more than 2,000 graves.
　　In the process of environmental governance, the government and departments have newly planted greenbelts with 1800 acres and completed the construction of 18 km greenways. Yichang Municipal Construction Committee takes responsibility for the concentrated governance of 36 sewage outfall, and lays a total of 1500 meters interception pipeline nets, which has greatly improved the quality of water.
　　Another ￥50 million to beautify the landscape along the canal
　　It is introduced that the comprehensive governance will start from Tangduhe Reservoir--the source of the canal in Yiling District to Wanshou Bridge canal. The total length of the project reaches 30.5 km.  At the beginning of the year of 2012, the canal governance project was listed as "One motion" by Yichang Municipal People\'s Congress, and the project was officially launched at the end of 2012 after careful preparation.
　　The Municipal Construction Committee takes the initiative to expand the scope and extends contents of regulation, and improves standards for the environmental protection by constantly self-pressurized and listening to the views of residents along the canal within three years. Based on the concept of respecting nature and fully embodying humanism, the government makes more efforts to build an ecological corridor along the canal, urban recreation corridor and cultural shows corridor.
　　Today, the completion of Wanshou Bridge Garden, Yiling Senior Middle School Garden and Shenzhen Road Garden, and the overall governance of more than 30 residential buildings around the Canal make the riverside landscape along the canal look more beautiful.
　　At the British Royal Canal segment, the reporters saw that cherry were blossoming and attracted a large number of people to there. According to the introduction of the staff in charge of the project, the reporters learn that thousands of cherry trees, peach, sweet osmanthus, Orychophragmus violaceus and lavender have been planted. And there are flowers blooming everywhere along the canal for people to appreciate today. This year, there will be a further escalation of the green belt, a boutique garden will be built in Zhangjia Village, which will accommodate nearly ten thousand people at the same time.
　　Besides, reporters also learned that the government of Yichang would invest another ￥50 million in environmental governance of canal. What’s more, the Broadcasting Cultural Plaza, the Cultural Industry Park, and the Green Valley Plaza with 80 acres in Zhangjiawan.
