Over 2,000 people came to municipal Vehicle Administration Office to apply for driving test, which was really a spectacle. On that day, due to unprecedented number of registered personnel, all the police in the office  went all out and dealt with in total 2,026 registering applications from all the applicants in queue.

     At around 3 o’clock in the morning, some people already came to line up, and around 7 o’clock over 1,000 appeared. In this case, the office then started an emergence plan, suspending vehicle businesses in the morning, and scattering people to Dongshan substation, Lingjiang substation and other counties and urban districts to handle the businesses with all of the police and staff were on duty that day. And 13 windows were open for sole application procedures; the police responsible for vehicle checking, archives and office work kept order outside to avoid pushing or stampede accidents. In order to alleviate the congestion, the police and the staff had been working for over consecutive 5 hours.

     April 1st, also known as April Fool’s Day in the west, had seen the applicants congestion  due to that many people heard that the office deal with application procedures of nonlocal people only on the first workday.

     It is known that many of the applicants are students from China Three Gorges University and vocational institutes in the city. Zhang Yaoqing, the deputy director of the office, told that the office deals with application and tests procedures of non-Yichang residents on any workday, thus telling people never to trust any rumors.

    Up to now, the office has given permission of examining drivers down to 5 counties and urban districts, so the driving learners have no need to rush to the city office together for application.

    Zhang also introduces that there are more than 30,000 people applying for driving license this year, and about 30,000 of them have passed the examination and gotten the driver license. (Reporter: Gong Changjun; Correspondent: Yao Hua)
