In order to have an insight into the current situations and the trends of air quality of our city, the Yichang Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau held an air quality analysis report meeting on the evening of April 1st. Many experts from Hubei Environmental Monitoring Center were invited to the meeting, giving the suggestions for improving the air quality.
　　According to the monitoring data, our city has more days of fairly good air quality in 2015 compared with the same period of 2014. But in contrast to other cities in Hubei, the air quality is
　　still not satisfactory. Analytically, in addition to the greatly increased construction, the rapid growing  motor vehicles and the increased energy consumption cause the acceleration of local pollutant emission. The non-local pollutant entrance, the adverse geographical meteorological conditions also make it easier to aggrandize the pollutant, to lead to secondary pollution and to affect the air quality. From this year, the city has analyzed the source of air fine particulate matter. The researches revealed that motor vehicle exhaust, fuel coal, industrial production and dust are the main sources of urban particulate matter PM2.5. The preliminary results of the air pollution source of Xiaoting District have been demonstrated through the scanning laser radar during the meeting. Further data analysis will be made in order to identify the pollution sources.
　　How can the air quality be improved? For the sake of improving the air quality, Doctor Chen Nan from Hubei Environmental Monitoring Center suggested that we should adopt strict management and law enforcement, carry out network monitoring, strengthen objective assessment, decrease pollutant emissions, practice artificial rainmaking. At the same time, we should strengthen the support from science and technology, determine the pollutant sources, carry out the analysis of pollution sources, early warning forecast of atmospheric pollution and air pollution prevention.
　　Through the scientific and systematic analysis of the city’s air quality, our city will improve the scheme of prevention and control of atmospheric pollution which includes motor vehicle exhaust,coal burning,industrial pollution sources, catering lampblack pollution and “the Special Control Scheme” of oil and gas recovery to improve the urban air quality.
