According to the municipal animal husbandry and veterinary administrative department, the popularization of the applicable technology in animal husbandry is to be strengthened this year so as to solve the “last kilometer” problem on technical services, with the average income of farmers expecting to increase 150 yuan per capita.

   This year, the slaughter rate of pigs, cattle, sheep and birds is to rise 2%, 30%, 12% and 10% respectively; the yield of meats, eggs and milk is to rise 6%, 8% and 7% respectively; the production value of the animal husbandry and its processing value are to rise 7.5% and 10% respectively.

　　  The cattle and sheep family ranches are to be developed greatly. The goal is: 800 beef cattle ranches, based on the “1210” feeding mode, and another 800 mutton sheep family ranches, based on “1531” feeding mode, are to be built respectively. Importance will be attached to developing 100 cattle and sheep specialized cooperatives with members from more than 30 households in the major cultivated belt, and another 100 large scale feeding enterprises with over 1 million yuan production value. Priority will be given to cultivating local quality breeds, e.g., Qingping pig, Shuanglian chicken, Yichang white goat and actively cultivate the Yichang brands.

　　Full support will be given to developing the production and marketing links between large scale livestock and poultry farms, specialized cooperatives, the leading processing enterprises and supermarkets, schools, industrial enterprises, and large and medium-sized urban markets. Multiplied selling modes will be encouraged, e.g., e-commerce, production in accordance with the order, direct selling distribution, in order to expand the animal husbandry’s “going out” channel.
