The 5th China Three Gorges (Yiling) Tea Culture Festival was held this week in the Ecological Tea Garden of Jiaolong Temple in Xiabaoping Town in Yiling District. Focusing on “ecology, quality and cooperation”, highlighting the “Tea Valley of the Three Gorges” and entering Tea City of Three Gorges, the festival demonstrated the charming scenery in “Tea Valley of the Three Gorges” and profound tea culture in the Three Gorges to guests at home and abroad through a series of colorful activities, including tea-leaves-picking competition, tea-frying contest, tea competition, commercial negotiations, “the city of boutique tea” show and appraise for teas in Three Gorges, etc. 

    266 traders and E-businessmen from more than 10 countries and regions, such as Russia, India, Sri Lanka, Republic of Korea, and Democratic Republic of Congo and so on had been attracted to cooperate in Yiling District at this festival, building a cooperation platform with the concept “to be friends by tea, to promote sales by the festival and to improve tourism by tea”.

　　At the economy and trade fair held in the Tea City of Three Gorges International Tourism in Yichang that afternoon, 210 sales agreements in total had been signed between traveling traders, E-businessmen and tea enterprises in Yiling District with a amount of 17,600 tons and 565 million RMB. Moreover, 180 million RMB of intentional loan agreements had been achieved between related banks and tea enterprises in Yichang with a loan contract amount of 20 million RMB. The municipal Government of Yiling District had also signed a long-term and friendly strategic cooperation agreement with Yi Cun Tong Da (Beijing) Network Technology Co., Ltd.

　　Yiling District, the hometown of Chinese Famous Tea, is a national competitive industry area of tea as well as the major tea producing county of Hubei Province and China. In 2014, the tea trees acreage reached 141.73 square kilometers with the total output of 21,000 tons and the output value of 0.74 billion RMB.

    From this year, both the building of modern tea industry demonstration area and the deep integration between tea industry and countryside tourism have been promoted to create “Tea Valley of the Three Gorges” tour landscape belt. Relying on the ecologic dominance and tea resource along the line from Taipingxi County to Dengcun Township in the north bank of the Three Gorges Dam reservoir area, this tour belt blends tea industry, leisure tourism, cultural creativity with health maintenance. The overall length of “Tea Valley of the Three Gorges” tour gallery is 42km, starting from Liujiahe Village of Taipingxi Town in the south to Dengcunping Village of Dengcun Township in the north.  (Reporter: Wang Suzhi, Correspondent: He Ying, Zhu Yongjie)
