Liu Jianxin, the deputy mayor, met a delegation of “a Chinese cultural journey of officials at embassies and overseas experts” initiated by the Chinese Ministry of Culture.   
　　The 15 members, including cultural officials from countries such as East Timor, Burma, MalPes, Korea, Ecuador, Russia, Singapore, Pakistan ect. and foreign experts from Latvia and Poland, were to have a two-day interviewing in Yichang.
　　Liu, on behalf of the municipal government, expressed warm welcome to the delegation and introduced to them basic information of the city. He said that Yichang had a long history and deep culture of more than 2,400 years; and it had made great achievements over recent years in its economic and social development. He expressed his sincere hope that the guests could better know China and Yichang so that they could promote the mutual understanding and communication through this cultural journey.
