50% Foreign Trade Value Increase in Yichang

The total imports and exports value of Yichang city reached ¥8.73 billion (RMB), registered an increase of 50.9 percent in the first half of this year. With an increase of 65.7 percent, the total export value amounted to ¥7.62 billion (RMB). While the import value decreased by 6.3 percent to ¥1.11 billion. And the total imports and exports value of Yichang city accounted for 7.8 percent of the total volume of Hubei Province, according to Yichang Municipal Customs on July 21.  

Statistics show that the general trade imports and exports grew by 58.2 percent and reached ¥6.9 billion from January to June, accounting for 79 percent of the total imports and exports value of the city. Besides, the processing trade imports and exports value, with an increase of 5.5 percent, amounted to ¥1.4 billion over the same period in this city

Since more private enterprises has benefited from the dividends brought by reform, the imports and exports of private enterprises maintained a rapid growth momentum. From January to June, the imports and exports value of private enterprises amounted to ¥4.1 billion, increased by 94.1 percent in Yichang. And the imports and exports value of state-owned enterprises, up 41.5 percent, increased to ¥ 3.36 billion over the same period. In addition, the imports and exports value decreased by 9.7 percent to ¥740 million in joint ventures. While the imports and exports of foreign-owned enterprises registered an increase of 11.6 percent and increased to ¥470 million.

As for the international market, ASEAN has become the largest business partner of Yichang. From January to June, the bilateral trade value between Yichang City and ASEAN amounted to ¥1.35 billion, increasing by 36.3 percent. The dynamic vitality of the ASEAN market, contributed to the steady growth of the city. While, the bilateral trade value between India and Yichang,up five folds,reached ¥1.21 billion. The bilateral trade value with the EU amounted to ¥940 million, with an increase of 3.7 percent. In addition, the trade value with the United States, Japan, Singapore have registered an significant increase, which reached ¥920 million , ¥810 million and ¥440 million respectively.

The exports of the ammonium phosphate played a leading role in the market. In the first half year, the ammonium phosphate, non-backing aluminum foil, medical gauze, dredgers and yeast are on the list of five commodities which brought great export value in Yichang. While the total imports volume of four individual commodities, including sulfur, no backing aluminum foil, cotton, marine diesel engine parts reached ¥360 million , ¥150 million , ¥110 million and ¥40 million over the same period.

The total value of imports and exports of three major enterprises, including Yichang Jin Mei Industrial Co.,Ltd., Yichang Haley Foreign Trade Co., Ltd. and Hubei Xingfa Chemicals Group Co.,Ltd reached more than ¥500 million. In addition,  there are 13 enterprises with the import and export value reaching between¥100 million to ¥500 million.  (By Pei Shujing and Liu Lingqiao)
