On August 6th, the Environmental Protection Bureau of Yichang City released the Quarterly Bulletin of Environmental Quality of the second quarter. It shows that the number of air quality day in Yichang rural area reaches 78. The average PH value of acid rain is 6.22, and the frequency of acid rain is 0%.

There are five environmental air auto-monitoring sites in Yichang urban area, including Hi-tech Zone, Xiling District, Wujia District, Dianjun District and Yiling District. The main monitoring items are sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, respirable particulate matter, particulate matter, carbon monoxide and ozone. In the second quarter, the number of effective monitoring day is 91, eight of which are “excellent” days; 70 of which are “good” days; 11 of which are “mild pollution” days and two of which are “heavy pollution” days. They occupy 8.8%, 76.9%, 12.1% and 2.2% of the total monitoring days respectively. The primary pollutant is particulate matter.

In the second quarter, the water quality monitoring was carried forward once a month on the  water source areas of centralized drinking water, including Guanzhuang Reservoir, Nanmuxi Reservoir, Shanxichong Reservoir, the intake of Gezhouba Dam Waterworks along the Yangtze River and alternate water source canal. Fortunately, the water quality of all meets the standard.

The reporter learned from the Environmental Protection Bureau of Yichang City that there are six functional area noise monitoring stations, including the first Pin Factory of Yichang(Type 3 acoustic environment functional area), 403 (Type 2 acoustic environment functional area), the First People’s Hospital of Yichang(Type 1 acoustic environment functional area), Yichang Library(Type 4a acoustic environment functional area), China State Administration of Taxation (SAT ) and the government of Xiling District (Type 2 acoustic environment functional area). The monitoring is carried forward every quarter in a year and each time it lasts 24 hours constantly.

It is acknowledged that among those functional areas, the noise in Type 1 acoustic environment functional area exceeds the standard both during daytime and night; the noise in Type 2 acoustic environment functional area meets the standard during daytime but exceeds the standard at night; the noise in Type 3 acoustic environment functional area meets the standard both during daytime and night, and the noise in Type 4a acoustic environment functional area meets the standard during daytime but exceeds the standard at night.  (Reporter: Wang Ying; correspondent: Yi Huanxuan)
