For the past six months, the injection and oral syrup manufactured by African Human-well Pharmaceutical Company have entered into the market in West Africa, and it marked that Chinese enterprise has successfully established the first modern pharmaceutical production base in Africa. Meanwhile, with a total investment of ¥2.5 billion, the export base of Human-well Pharmaceutical Company has been completed in Yichang Bio-industrial Park and the products will be exported to the US as well as EU markets.
In Xiaoting, 0.2 mm ultra-thin electronic glass manufactured in bulk by Yichang CSG Optical Glass Co. Ltd has broken the world\'s thinnest glass production record which was set by Japanese enterprise. Besides, this production line formed the downstream industrial chain by working together with Yichang CSG Display Co., Ltd, thus captured the high-end market of thin glass in China.
In Zhijiang, Hubei Sanning Chemical Nylon Company has achieved 120 percent load operation since devices of manufacturing caprolactam have been put into operation in the company two years ago. The sales revenue reached ¥4.7 billion in the first seven months.
This marked the success of Yichang industrial transformation and upgrading. Yichang, as a provincial deputy center, received more attention from the whole province in restructuring, transformation and upgrading as well as speeding up the development.
In the first half of this year, Yichang’s GDP registered 9.0 percent growth rate, and export volume increased by 80 percent year on year. The electricity consumption of tertiary industry increased from 3.8% to 9.8%, while the industries’ output gained over 80 percent growth. Industries, including fine chemicals, food biomedicine as well as advanced equipment manufacturing, maintained double-digit growth and continued to speed up development. Besides, with the demands of markets gradually rebounded, the rate of production and marketing reached 97.2 percent, according to the Yichang Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology.
Yichang focus on optimizing industrial structure, improving quality as well as increasing efficiency. In the first half year, the output of manufacturing industry--Yichang strategic emerging industries-- registered an increase of 5.2 percent higher than other industries. While the proportion of High-tech industry in GDP increased 3 percentage points, 2.8 percentage points higher than the growth rate of other industries.
The proportion of light industry\'s output gained an increase of 1.17 percentage points, while the proportion of high energy-consuming industry\'s output fell 2.4 percent year on year. The energy consumption decreased by 7 percent in various departments of Yichang. The added value of tertiary industry accounting in GDP grew by 0.8 percentage points.
Yichang continued to pay attention to comprehensive development of investment, consumption and export. Investment made great contributions to the development of the city. The construction of Three Gorges Pharmaceutical Amino Acid Base and Human-well Pharmaceutical Production Base have been completed and put into operation. 87 of 100 provincial key projects, such as Huike Electronics and Lantai Technology, have been under construction. And 25 projects completed more than 75 percent of the annual investment plan, 14 projects exceeded the annual plan. Among 112 new-signed projects, over hundred millions have been invested in 58 projects, and the construction of Three Gorges Electricity-Industrial Park has been further accelerated. The comprehensive program of Three Gorges integrated transport system brought in 150 billion strategic investment from Hubei Provincial Transport Investment Group, showing that the role of Yichang, as the transportation hub, become more prominent. The city maintained a steadily increase in consumer price, with the price in rural areas rising faster than urban areas. Besides, foreign trade continued to grow month on month, and exports volume broke a new record .Yichang will continue to implement reform and opening up policy, to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship as well as to improve ecological livelihood. By deepening reforms comprehensively to guarantee more people benefit from reform. The new registration market entities and registered capital increased 55.2 percent and 48.7 percent respectively. 106 new large-scale industrial enterprises have been established, and the proportion of private investment increased to 72.6 percent. About 103 incubator enterprises have expanded new Incubator area of 103,000 square meters. And Yichang has won the "national IPR demonstration city." With more effective measures and control on the discharge of major pollutants, the fine air quality days increased by 40 days in urban areas.
Yichang will continue to promote restructuring and transformation in leader enterprises, such as, Yihua, Angel Yeast, Xingfa Group, and Human-well, to accelerate the pace of transformation and upgrading in all enterprises of Yichang significantly. Great changes have taken place in interior structure of industries, the output of light industry increased by 14.2 percent, with an increase of 1.17 percentage points in the first half year. And high-tech enterprises, such as CSG and other enterprises increased by 13.5 percent 16.8% of the GDP, with an increase of 3.0 percentage points. While the output of a number of high energy-consuming enterprises fell year on year. At the same time, modern agriculture enterprises, agricultural product processing demonstration zones and three projects to create top brands have been under construction.
Yichang will continue to promote the construction of New District, and the construction of a number of important roads, museums, planning exhibition center and gymnasium will be completed by the end of this year. The construction of Yichang-Zhangjiajie and Yichang-Yueyang in Yichang section will be finished and Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, Ziyun railways as well as other important facilities will be opened to traffic, while the planning of urban rail transit system has been accelerated. Much more efforts have been made to further promote the development of tourism. According to the plans of Yichang Municipal Government issued at the beginning of this year, the output value of fine chemicals, food and biomedical industry is expected to exceed 170 billion, while the output value of advanced equipment manufacturing industry will exceed 110 billion. And the output value of city\'s above-scale industrial exceeded 550 billion, the modern logistics industry exceeded 100 billion and cultural tourism exceeded 60 billion.
With the speeding up of the industrial restructuring and transformation, Yichang is at the crucial moment of developing economy, and we are ready to build Yichang a prosperous and splendid mega-city. (By Zhang Liang)
