On September 2, Ma Xuming, deputy secretary and mayor of Yichang city, presided over the 56th executive meeting of the municipal government and approved three programs, including “Responsibility Decomposition Work Program on Accelerating the Construction of an Integrated Transport System in the Three Gorges”, “Responsibility Decomposition Work Program on Rail Transit Planning and Construction of Yichang City”, and “Responsibility Decomposition Work Program on Accelerating the Yichang Section of the Yangtze River and Its Tributaries Comprehensive Improvement Project”. We must actively seize the important strategic opportunity, vigorously promote the construction of major projects, and accelerate the pace of metropolis construction to move towards the top of equal cities in central region, Ma said.

This year, the government plans carefully on many major projects and establishes a leading group to accelerating the construction of major projects of Yichang. The key tasks in the Three Gorges integrated transport system are listed as follows: construction of 8 ports respectively in Tai Pingxi, Baiyang, Maoping, Honghuatao, Yaojiagang, Tianjiahe, Qixingtai, Zhicheng; construction of northern portage railway, southern portage railway, and Dangyang to Yuan’an railway; construction of pipeline project; construction of logistic industrial park of Three Gorges Dam in Zigui; accelerating the preparation of northern portage expressway, Yichang section of Yilai expressway, Shennongjia to Xingshan, Changyang and Wufeng expressway, and Zhijiang to Shimen expressway. The key tasks in construction of railway transit include transforming the exist Yichangdong to Xiaoxita railway into urban traffic engineering, completing the revision of preliminary plan on the construction of Yichang rail traffic, drawing up a plan on Yichang rail traffic construction and its preparation, and making the master plan on Yichang railway hub.

On the Comprehensive Improvement of the Yangtze River, the main objects are Yichang 170 kilometers section of Yangtze River, 5 major tributaries including Huangbohe River, Qingjiang River, Juzhang River, Yuyang River and Xiangxi River, 25 rivers along the city and 107 urban reservoirs.
