According to the New District Promotion Office of Yichang,by the end of June there have been 162 projects (including 52 new started ones), and 96.7 km-long roads and bridges under construction in the NewDistrict. The closure work of the deck to the Yangtze River Bridge had been completed; the BRT of Dongshan Avenue has begun test run since July 15, the Yemingzhu Road Section had completed the construction bid;Xiazhou Avenue(Fazhan Avenue to Bailinhe Road) had already entered into the water-stabilized layer construction, thus the Xiazhou Avenue would be open to traffic in October; the roadbed and substructure of the bridge of Jiangcheng Avenue(Dijun Avenue to YiqiaoRoad) were basically completed; the asphalt pavement construction of the eight primary and secondary roads in East Station Area had been completed, and it would be totally completed in September.

17 public construction projects had been under construction in the Yichang New District.The Planning Exhibition Hall hasbegun preparation for exhibition, and it could be open to public in October; the main part of the Museum had been topped off; the communist party school project of the Yichang municipal party committee and the main project of Seniors’ University have been started; the new campuses of The No. 1 Senior High School and Yiling Senior High School have completed the field leveling.

Xiazhou Avenue is the first urban expressway of Yichang with a total length of 12.21 kilometers. It starts from the Shiban Village of Fazhan Avenue, and ends at the Bailinhe Road. In October this year, this new ecological landscape boulevard will be open to traffic. Once completed, it will play an important role in promoting the New District construction and releasing the traffic pressure in the main urban area of Yichang to some extent. (Reporter: Yang Chunyan)
