In the golden week of the National Day this year, Yichang captured the hearts of a large number of Chinese and foreign tourists again. According to the statistics of Yichang Holiday Office, Yichang has received 5381.5 thousand tourists and earned 3,298 million yuan in tourism from October 1st to 7th, which respectively rose 15.46% and 20.36% compared to last year. Eight key monitoring scenic spots received 970,500 tourists and earned 51.3105 million yuan altogether. The cumulative average occupancy rate of hotels or guestrooms reached 79.13%. During the holiday, tourist market was standardized and in good order, in which no major tourist complaints or travel accidents, nor fatal traffic accident or serious traffic congestion occurred.
During the golden week, Yichang strictly executed publicity system of the maximum capacity of above 4A-level tourist attraction. In addition, online enquiry made tourists more clear about tourism information and rational on the tour. Country tour, taking “have homemade meal, live in farmhouse, do farm work and enjoy countryside fun” as the main content, was chosen by many tourists to avoid the crowded scenic spots. Thus country tour was very popular in this holiday.
Yuan’an County carried out the strategy of overall tourism enriching people. Beautiful Yuan’an as a poetic country has attracted numerous tourists to visit here on the National Day. Local festival activities like Experience Farming Culture Week and Fishing in Troubled Waters were launched during the Holiday, as well as some rural activities such as tracking old traces and appreciating autumn scenery in Zhaiguling, exploring valley in Western River, climbing mountain and camping in Jinguwan and beach experience in Hongfu Heights. Rural tourism attractions like Mingfeng Mountain, Luyuan Temple, Jingu Bay, Taiqing Cave, Luozu’s Hometown and Guaishi Slope enjoyed a high popularity.
Yiling District successively pulled out picking activites of kiwi fruit, citrus, dragon fruit, chestnut and so on which received picking tourists mainly grouped by self-driving families from or out of Hubei province. Experiencing activities such as Cross Suozi Ditch and Explore Jin Family’s Seal held by Nanyang Town of Xingshan County and Search for Wang Zhaojun’s Hometown and Hazelnut Pen Party held by Zhenzi County attracted a large number of tourists for leisure and vacation.
Three glittering points including traditional tourist projects such as Chexi scenic spot in Dianjun district and walking tour in Qinglong Gorge, which were still among the popular list; evening laser show and water screen film added before Mingcui Valley Festival and homemade food after quality improved gave new surprise to tourists. Liziping Village, the model village of China’s rural tourism in Wufeng, accommodated fully during the period in both homemade food restaurants and guest houses, totally receiving 3,700 tourists and earning 520,000 yuan in tourism. “Outdoor Self-driving Heaven” has attracted self-driving amateurs across the country to Yichang. Self-driving dominated by family, friends or automobile club became beautiful scenery in scenic spots. Statistical results showed that self-driving tourists occupied more than 70% of the total tourists which took the mainstream of the market.
