Wu Tianyan, President of Parsons Music Group, announced in Yichang on September 18th that a German piano brand called Grotrian has been successfully purchased by Parsons. Yangtze River Piano, one of the piano brands subordinate to Parsons, will be exported to 176 countries and regions in the globe through Grotrian’s distribution network so that more music fans will have the chance to know and even choose this world class piano made in Yichang, China. Therefore, Parsons Music Group has been the only manufacturing enterprise that purchases German piano factory for twice.
Founded in the early 19th century with a history of almost 200 years, Grostrian Piano was specialized in top-level handmade piano manufacturing. It is an international famous piano manufacturer which is also known as the national class piano factory in Germany. In 1865, Friedrich Grotrian and Theodor Steinweg founded “Grotrian—Steinweg” piano brand together. Boasting over 100 patents and invention technology, it was highly praised by pianists all over the world, including Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, Wilhelm Richard Wagner and Clara Schumann etc. Even now Grotrian piano enjoys a high reputation in the international high-end piano market owing to its unique timbre.
“Buyout of Grotrian Piano was the second cross-border acquisition by Parsons Music Group after fully acquisition of WILH.STEINBERG in 2013.” Wu Tianyan said that it is another important measure taken by Parsons Music Group to manufacture high-quality piano and promote the development of piano manufacturing industry. Parsons Music Group and Grotrian will form a cooperation of “complement each other\'s advantages & win-win cooperation” through the acquisition.
Grotrian’s factory in Brunswick (Germany) will be extended to improve the productivity of Grotrian piano, continuing to enhance the brand image of Grotrian piano and promote its market position in the international high-end piano market. A joint research and development cooperation on piano manufacturing technology between Parsons Music Group and Grotrian Piano was carried out, combining German traditional piano manufacturing with modernized production mode by Parsons Music Group. In addition, the quality of quantity produced medium and high end pianos which belongs to Parsons Music Group will be fully improved, and Yangtze River Piano which has already had the international high-end quality will be further upgraded.
