On September 20, the reporter learned from Yichang Food and Drug Administration that the first rapid detection car of food safety in Hubei Province appeared in Yichang and was officially put into operation. The reporter also learned that this car is equipped with the top configuration and can detect the maximum test items and cover the broadest categories.
According to the reporter, the operation of the rapid food and drug detection car mainly aimed at “accessing to information, fast screening, targeted sampling and objective detection”, which provides a strong support for the rapid food safety detection system. And it primarily provides rapid detection support for special examination, food safety guarantee during important activities and site disposal of food safety incidents. 
The rapid detection car of food and drug which is put into use this time will configure many sophisticated instruments such as full wavelength multi-functional drug residues detector, raman spectrometer, liquid chromatograph and food safety molecular detection system. Therefore, it can detect more than 100 items of food, nearly 10 test items of biotoxin, nearly 20 test items of illegal addition, nearly 30 test items of genetically modified (GM) and microorganisms, nearly 10 test items of oil quality, pesticide residues and veterinary drug residues. Meanwhile, it can also carry out lots of routine tests for some drugs. Besides, the detection time was shortened from the minimum 6 hours and the maximum 15 days before to the minimum several minutes and the maximum dozens of minutes now. All of the above indicate that the capacity of rapid food safety detection in Yichang has been improved significantly. (Reporter: Zhang Bokang; Correspondent: Ma Xiaorong)
