The green passageway refers to a special and complete linear space with a function of connection, including a green passageway system, a non-motorized traffic system, a traffic linking system, a service facility system and a identification system. An Implement Plan of Green Passageway System in Yichang City planned and compiled by the Municipal Housing and Construction Committee laid focuses on the three characteristics of leisure, fitness and travel, building a city-passageway system of “waterfront, surrounding mountains, urban areas, sceneries and all around safety”. In the future, Yichang will be arranged according to the three kinds of layout, including city-level green passageway, district-level green passageway and community-level green passageway.

“Four Vertical + Four Horizontal” to be built in the district
12 city-level greenways that are perpendicular to or parallel the Yangtze River have taken shape into a multi-rings structure. They are Jiangbei Binjiang Greenway, Huangbohe Greenway, Canal Greenway, Shahe-Baiyang Greenway, Xiaoya Greenway, Jiangnan Binjiang Greenway, Juanqiao River Greenway, Wenfo Mountain Greenway, Bolin River Greenway, Houshan road-Qiangjiang River Greenway, Manao River Greenway and Aijia Town-Juanqiao River Greenway. Currently, 8 greenways of 29.88km have been completed, such Canal Greenway, Xianfeng Road, Yingbin Avenue, Guanzhuang and so on.
“2 Rings & 10 Belts” for Urban Greenways
An Over Length of 1156 km
“2 Rings” refer to the countryside leisure ring and the ecotourism ring in the picture. Relying on city-level greenways, such as Xiaoya Road, Zhijiang Yanjiang Road, Yidu Yanjiang Road, Tanai Road, Yanjiang Road, Yemingzhu Road, Pinghu Avenue and so on, the countryside leisure ring has formed a closed ring that connects 12 clusters in central city with an overall length of 183km except the Three Gorges Dam Zone. (The purple circle in the picture)
Connecting with various radial greenways in outside circles，the ecotourism ring has commonly formed a closed ring with them. With the total length of 723 km, it connects some peripheral counties such as Changyang Tujia Autonomous County, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, Zigui, Xiangshan Yuan\'an and county-level cities like Dangyang, Zhijiang.
“10 Belts” refers to ten radial greenways in outside circles. Starting from the countryside leisure ring and relying on existing national roads, provincial roads, county roads, rural roads as well as waterfront road, “10 Belts” have radiated and formed ten external city-level greenway to peripheral counties and cities. They have connected central city with external counties and cities, stringing many important scenic spots, such as the Three Gorges Dam, Qingjiang River, the Three Gorges Great Falls, Chaibuxi, Chexi folk-custom scenic spot and so on. The overall length of these ten radial greenways in the city is 1,156km.  (Reporter Li Yuxian, Correspondent Jiang Wei)
