Medical Bills in the First Three Quarters Released in Yichang

The Health and Family Planning Committee of Yichang City recently released “medical bills” of nine medical institutions in urban areas in the first three quarters of this year (from January to September). Compared to the same period of last year, the payment of outpatient services per capita has decreases by three yuan, while hospitalization expenses per capita increase by 539 yuan.

  According to statistics, from January to September in this year, more than 3.6075 million people went to outpatient and emergency departments, and over 162000 people got hospitalized. The payment of outpatient services per capita is 154.86 yuan, while hospitalization expenses per capita are 8884.44 yuan with 12.69 days in hospital on average. Medicine income accounts for about 39.98% of the medicine gross income.

  Compared to the first three quarters of last year, the number of patients who receive outpatient and emergency services has increased by about 217400, while the number of patients who have hospitalization treatment increases by about 3500. The payment of outpatient services per capita has decreased by three yuan, while hospitalization expenses per capita increased by 539.09 yuan, with the number of days in hospital on average leveling off.

  According to the overall indicators published, patients still prefer handful big and jammed hospitals.

  Among the four hospitals titled with Class III GradeI, Yichang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital charges the lowest hospitalization fees.

  Which hospitals cost the least per capita among hospitals at the same level? Reporter notices that the payment of outpatient services per capita of China Gezhou Dam Group Center Hospital is the lowest, about 156.82 yuan among the four hospitals titled with Class III GradeI . Among Class III hospitals, No.3 People’s Hospital of Yichang charges the lowest, about 124.74 yuan.

  In terms of expenses of discharged patients per capita, Yichang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital cost the least among the top Class III GradeI hospitals, about 8407.38 yuan, while Maternal and Child Care Service Center of Yichang cost the least among the three-class hospitals, about 3055.71 yuan.

   Moreover, in terms of the proportion of medical expenses, Yichang Center People’s Hospital’s medical income accounts for the lowest of its medicine gross income among top three hospitals, about 37.17%. The period in hospital on average of this hospital is also the shortest, about 11.58 days. Among three-class hospitals, Yichang Maternal and Child Care Service Center’s drug income accounts for the lowest of its medicine gross income, about 31.02%. The period in hospital on average of this hospital is aslo the shortest, about 5.63 days.

  The rate of cesarean section decreases by over 1% this year, with more mothers choosing natural labor.

    Among the information of five single diseases published, that is, acute simple appendicitis ( operational treatment), cholecystectomy ( under peritoneoscope), cesarean section, natural labor and hypertension( first, second, third level included), the number of patients who suffer from hypertension is the largest, while the number of patients who choose cesarean section ranks the second, natural labor the third.   

    Statistics shows that 1603 mothers chose cesarean section, and 1292 mothers chose natural labor in the first three quarters of this year. The rate of cesarean section is about 55%, while the rate of natural labor is about 45%. However, compared to the same period of last year, cesarean section has decreased greatly by 12%. In the first three quarters of last year, 1878 mothers chose cesarean section, and 887 mothers chose natural labor. The rate of cesarean section was 67%, while the rate of natural labor was 33%.
