Recently, the journalist learned from the city immigration office that under the approval of the Three Gorges Office of the State Council and Financial Ministry, the provincial financial department and immigration bureau officially issued a notice to the effect that 600 million yuan follow-up capital was provided for the construction of the key project, namely Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge at Yichang. This is a project in the provincial follow-up work planning for the Three Gorges enjoying the largest amount of subsidy capital, bearing important significance in promoting the construction of the Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge.

Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge serves as an important control project in ensuring safe operation of the Gezhou Dam and the Three Gorges Dam, promoting the socio-economic development of the reservoir area as well as stability and wellbeing of the immigrants, executing the cross-river development, and accelerating mega-city construction. Prior to the planning and construction of the bridge, came the opportunity of the country’s implementing the planning of the follow-up work of the Three Gorges. At the time, the city party committee and government made advance movements and took the initiative to grasp it. Leaders of the State Council attached great importance to it, included Zhixi Yangtze Bridge into the implementation project of the follow-up work planning of the Three Gorges, and provided 600 million subsidy capitals from the budget reserve.

According to the director of the city immigration office, The Follow-up Work Plan of Three Gorges was deliberated on and approved at the executive meeting of the State Council in May 2011, with a total investment of 123.8 billion yuan (10.246 billion yuan for the investment in Yichang). From 2011 to 2014, the number of projects for the follow-up work planning of the Three Gorges executed at the endeavor of our city reached 305 with a total investment of 11.05 billion yuan and a subsidy investment of 2.828 billion yuan. At present, the number of completed projects has reached 109 and the number of under-construction projects has reached 138. The accumulated work starting rate is 81% and the accumulated finished investment reaches 4.97 billion yuan. Among them, national subsidy capital is 1.63 billion yuan and the fulfilled supporting capital is 3.34 billion yuan. YichangZhixi Yangtze River Bridge, Xiangxi Yangtze River Road Bridge, ZiguiFanba Logistics Industrial Park, Xingshan County Mamai Tunnel, Yiling District Three Gorges Immigrants Ecological Garden, etc., have received key capital support from the Three Gorges follow-up project.
