Sales of Qixingtai Town’s Radish
2015-11-30 16:53:36

On November 15th Li Minhua, Town Party Secretary of Qixingtai Town, Zhijiang City, began marching into some major domestic markets with his vegetable marketing team, which indicates an official start of the campaign of selling 100,000-ton radishes.

The radishes grown in the town, with thin and colorful peel, crisp texture, juicy and sweet taste, have already successfully applied for National Geographical Indication, and have been identified as A-level green food products. This year, the vegetable plantation of the town covers a total area of 35,000 mu. Radish as one of the main income sources of the local farmers, with a plantation area of 20,000 mu, is expected to yield 100,000 tons. By means of developing e-commerce to build a sales platform, 60% vegetables have been processed according to orders. To sell the rest of the vegetables, the town has set up a brand operating and promotion fund, with an initial start-up capital of $15670. And it has hired a marketing company to make brand planning for the “Duck Mouth” vegetables to increase the influence of the brand and broaden sales channels.

With the year coming to an end, there will be a bumper crop of radish. In addition to the sale’s team’s help, the town also offered a subsidy of $15670 for outstanding brokers, cooperatives and agricultural enterprises who have engaged in radish marketing. (Correspondents Fang Qi, Chen Meng)
