The super cross-country running race will start in Yichang from Nov. 27 to 29, which is the first event of this kind with a course of over 100 miles in China. With the entire journey of 168.5km, this race starts from the scenic spot of the Tribe of the Three Gorges in the ancient Shipai Town and runs through 3 scenic attractions with 5A level and 6 scenic spots with 4A level, via the mountainous regions in the southern bank of the Yangtze River, the Yiling District, the Zigui County and the Xiling District. The destination lies in the Peace park of the urban area, and 16 supply stops are set throughout the journey.
The super cross-country running race of China Three Gorges (Yichang) consists of 6 competition types, including the inPidual full-journey cross-country race of 168.5km, the inPidual half-journey cross-country race of 83.6km, double relay cross-country race of 168.5km, inPidual mountain marathon of 53.9km, foursome relay cross-country race of 168.5km and inPidual cross-country race of 20km. It is estimated that about 500 people will participate in the races, among which 150 people join in the inPidual full-journey event, 50 in the inPidual half-journey event and 300 in the other events. The accumulated climbing height is 8,316 meters in the whole cross-country race.
All participants will run through the urban area of Yichang, cross the Yangtze River Bridge, climb up the mountainous areas lying on the two sides of the Xiling Gorge, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Gezhou Dam and the Three Gorges Dam. They will come from 35 cities of 21 provinces in China. Besides, there are also many athletes and enthusiasts of the cross-country running race, including some famous runners at home (also including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and abroad, some elites of business colleges from various universities as well as some entrepreneurs. They want to experience the “Sport plus Travel” event by this cross-country race.
There are two international over-hundred-km cross-country running races, namely, the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) and Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji (UTMF). The super cross-country running race of China Three Gorges (Yichang) is the first domestic long-distance race with the range over 100 miles. Meanwhile, the participants of this super cross-country race of China Three Gorges (Yichang) can directly get the qualification for HK100 (Hong Kong 100km cross-country race), which is the initial race of the World Cross-country League Match.
