According to the official response of the National Forestry Bureau, it’s informed yesterday that the pilot Tian-long Bay National Wetland Park of Hubei Yidu has finished its pilot period, passed the test and officially become a National Wetland Park. This is also the first national wetland park in our city.
Tian-long Bay National Wetland Park is located in the southwest of Yidu and downstream of the 800-Li-long Qingjiang River (400km), ranging from 2 villages Baiyanao and Shimen and 7 groups in Gaobazhou Town and Wuyanquan Town, with a total area of about 1239.5 hectares. It started the pilot work under the permission of National Forestry Bureau On March 25th, 2011, accepted and passed the examination and assessment of national wetland park expert group on May 14th,2015.
The total investment of the pilot construction of Tian-long Bay National Wetland Park is 250 million yuan, concentrating on the protection and restoration, scientific research and monitoring, popular science education and industrial development of the wetland. It creatively carries out the valleys multistage artificial wetland systems project, the restoration of deep-type wetland and wetland industrial demonstration base systems project and improves the special farming of wetland water purification system with focus on the giant salamander breeding. It also improves the cages without stereo planting and raising fish bait symbiotic system and the wetland tourism industry recycling system, establishing a unique “Wetland Stone Forest” brand in the whole country, building many ecological science tourist sites like Water Wisdom Garden of Qingjiang River and Yang Shoujing Academy and so on which significantly promotes the function of wetland ecosystem service.
As a wetland jointly made up by the natural wetland, the artificial wetland ecosystem and the surrounding forest ecological system, Tian-long Bay National Wetland Park launches a series of unique development model of wetland protection and restoration and sustainable utilization of wetland combined with its own characteristics which provides a demonstration example and model for the management of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze river wetland and also provides a successful example for the protection and sustainable utilization of domestic and foreign large reservoir, pond, river wetland.
Within the territory of the wetland park, there are 151 families, 481 genera and 777 species of plants, and 3 families and 7species of amphibians, 7 families and 19 species of reptiles, 33 families and 106 species of birds, 8 families and 81 species of butterflies, 3 habitats of egrets group in which over three 1000 egrets live.
