China Institute of City Competitiveness sent a letter of congratulations to Yichang Government on being selected into the list of the most competitive cities in Chinese regions (central part) at the 14th (2015) press conference of the ranking list of competitive cities held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on December 9, 2015.
The China Institute of City Competitiveness mainly took comprehensive advantages and growth competitive advantages into consideration while evaluating the most competitive cities in different parts of China. The evaluation index consists of the static GN Comprehensive Competitiveness Evaluation Index System for Chinese Cities and the dynamic GN Growth Competitiveness Evaluation Index System for Chinese Cities. The comprehensive competitiveness evaluation index system covers 4 systems, namely economic, social, environmental and cultural system, which includes 10 first class indicators, 50 second class indicators and 216 third class indicators. Growth competitiveness evaluation index system comprises four major indicators, namely the strength index, potential index, vigor index and capability index, which include four first class indicators, 29 second class indicators and 67 third class indicators.
The evaluation divided the whole region into western, central, eastern and northeast four regions and selected 10 most competitive cities in each region. There were two cities in Hubei Province appearing in the list of city competitiveness of Chinese regions (central part) in 2015, with Wuhan ranking the first and Yichang the ninth which is one of the 4 selected non-capital cities in central China on the list in 2015.
China Institute of City Competitiveness was registered in Hong Kong in 1998 and issued the first list of city competitiveness in China in 2002. (Reporter Lei Pengcheng)
