The concerned hearing about stepwise price of domestic natural gas for urban residents was held in Gezhouba Hotel on the morning of January 15. 24 participants discussed the two schemes of stepwise gas price and most of them agreed with the second one.
　　The hearing meeting heard on two schemes of stepwise gas price. Measured according to the price of domestic natural gas in Yichang urban areas, the first stage gas price is 0.3696 dollar/cubic meter; the second stage gas price is 0.4061 dollar/cubic meter; the third stage gas price in the first scheme is 0.5171dollar/cubic meter, which is, however, 0.4502 dollar/cubic meter in the second scheme through calculating the actual price in urban area.
　　At the same time, through the investigation, it had hearing on two schemes of stepwise volume of domestic natural gas for urban residents. In the first scheme, the first stage is 240 cubic meters per year, the second stage is 240-400 cubic meters per year and the third stage is over 400 cubic meters per year. In the second scheme, the first stage is 360 cubic meters per year, the second stage is 360-600 cubic meters per year and the third stage is over 600 cubic meters per year. The volume of gas in the scheme means the gas volume per year for every household which generally cannot exceed three people. While for the family over 3 people, one more people, more corresponding gases. In the first scheme, adding another person would be compensated another 80 cubic meters per year and another 120 cubic meters in the second scheme. 
　　The current gas price for residents in urban areas is 0.3696 dollar/cubic meter.
　　24 representatives spoke in turn, focusing on the issues such as how to calculate the volume of gas for families with more people and the heavy pressure on winter heating. Many representatives believed that adopting stepwise gas price and increasing the price of the gas beyond the basic life need could reflect the degree of scarcity of natural gas resource. Using more means paying more which reflects the fair principle of gas use. Stepwise gas price can guide residents to use gas reasonably and save gas.
　　After listening to the representatives’ opinions, Song Xiudian, director of Municipal Price Bureau, said that Commodity Price Departments would make full use of the achievements of the hearing and solicit opinions from citizens in a larger scope. They would make an optimized scheme based on all these opinions and audit the price on the meeting and give the relevant reports to the Municipal Government. Then it would be implemented after getting the approval from Municipal Government. (Reporter Pei Shujing, Correspondent Gao Yan)
