On January 27th, the reporter learned from spot exchange activity of the city’s tourism toilet and travel guide signage construction that Yichang will continue to accelerate and boost the construction pace of the standard projects, ensuring all the established projects completed in April and passing the creating inspection of National Tourism Standardized Demonstration City within the year.

It is learned that the total investment of constructing four categories of public service projects (tourism toilet, tourism guide sign, tourism distribution center, tourism information center), which reflect our city’s tourism standardization, reached 267 million yuan. Relying on the Yichang Passenger Transportation Center and the Three Gorges Visitor Center, the first-degree tourist distribution center which is “One Main and One Auxiliary” has been accomplished. Batches of tourist distribution centers, which are in second level or the third level, have been constructed in every districts, counties and cities. There are seven city tourist information consultation centers and nine county and city tourist information consultation centers (sites) planned to set up. At the present, there are four established tourist information consultation centers in urban area, with a total investment of 1.86 million yuan; there are four established tourist information consultation centers (sites) in county and city, with a total investment of 3.13 million yuan. The city plans to build 159 travel traffic guide signs and 15 travel pedestrian guide maps. Now, 108 traffic guide signs and 13 pedestrian guide maps have been built.

The city plans to rebuild and construct 180 tourism toilets, of which there are 134 toilets in scenic spots, 20 toilets along the tourist routes, 26 toilets in urban tourists’ concentration areas. Now, 121 toilets have been established, with a total investment of 41.4079 million yuan; there are 34 toilets under construction, with a total budget investment of 9.625 million yuan; there are 25 toilets which do not start, with a total budget investment of 9.51 million yuan. (Journalist Wang Ying, Correspondent Feng Lei, Shi Zhan)
