According to Yichang Survey Team of National Bureau of Statistics, Urban CPI rose 0.9% than the same month last year, and 0.4% than last month. Compared with last month, the year-on-year growth is 0.4% lower and the quarter-on-quarter growth is 0.3% lower. Increase in the clothing price is the major factor of the rise of the total index.  

Vegetable prices rebounded sharply. In January, cold wave swept large areas of China which affected the production and supply, so the price of vegetables for this month rose by 6.8% month-on-month and the potato rose by 6.3%.

There was a slight price increase in pork, beef and mutton. Citizens prepared necessities for the coming Spring Festival and market consumption demand increased. The price of pork, beef and mutton rose by 2.9%, 0.9% and 1.8% month-on-month respectively. However, except that the price pf pork had a positive year-on year growth, the price of beef and mutton suffered negative year-on year growth.

The price of eggs increased. Egg production declined dramatically because of the cold weather in January, but due to the approaching holiday, market demand increased and the egg prices rose by 4% month-on-month with the further upward trend.

Clothing prices rose month-on-month. Clothing prices rose by 0.4% month-on-month in January mainly because of Update of a small amount of winter clothing. Men\'s winter clothing and women\'s winter clothing prices rose by 2.7% and 6.1% respectively. Some clothing is on sale, and the price of men\'s suits declined by 5.9% month-on-month.

It is worth mentioning that affected by the Spring Festival transportation, flight ticket prices rose by 23.4% month-on-month. (Reporter: Pei Shujing, Correspondent: Zou Jiao)
