On February 24, the strategic cooperation signing ceremony and press conference were co-held by Xiaoting District Government, the Three Gorges Airport and the Vipshop Holding Limited, in which the three parties have formed strategic partnership on air freight, modern logistics, e-commerce and other industries in Xiaoting District. According to the plan, the Vipship will build Xiaoting air cargo transport base into a hub, which endeavors to officially put the first cargo aircraft in 2016, radiating cargo across the whole country and providing air freight service for its Pinjun Express. Zhou Zhengying, vice mayor of Yichang attended the event.

Zhou Zhengying said at the signing ceremony that, in recent years the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government attached great importance to the development of the aviation industry. In recent years, while seizing the major opportunity of the country’s vigorously advancement of the construction and reform of low-altitude airspace and improvement of the low-altitude airspace management and service guarantee system, Yichang planned to construct general aviation industry park and accelerate the development of general aviation industry and airport economy on the basis of the Three Gorges Airport, Bedik Liun (Yichang) Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Co., Ltd., and Pine Valley Aviation Group have landed in Yichang. The cooperation of the three parties will further expand airport economy and create new economic growth pole with the advantages of the Three Gorges Airport and Vipshop Holding Limited. Apart from organizing a special cooperative team and establishing a normalized communication mechanism, we hope that the three parties can actively explore and promote project cooperation, thus reaping fruitfully as soon as possible.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Tang Yizhi, vice president of Vipshop (China) Holding Limited, said that, with advantageous geographical location and developed traffic net of Yichang, the cooperation will be an important milestone in the history of Vipshop development, which marks the completion of the first hub-like base of Vipshop’s air freight network and a substantial step that Vipshop and its Pinjun Express have taken. Vipshop will cooperate with the Xiaoting District government and the Three Gorges Airport to build the Three Gorges Airport into a air freight center, a transit hub for express consignment and a “oversea shipping zone” relying on the Yichang Bonded Logistics Center, so that the Three Gorges Airport will become an air-freight hub, radiating air lines across China.

According to the cooperative agreement, the three parties will make full use of their resource advantages respectively to push forward the construction of Yichang’s comprehensive logistics system and the development of logistics industry. Also, they will in due course bring in cargo aircraft to serve direct line to Yichang, thus advancing the transformation of the Three Gorges Airport from the single line destination to an air-freight hub. At the same time, the Yichang government will take full advantage of Vipship’s platform in e-commerce to conduct business cooperation with local well-known enterprises, thus promoting prosperity and development of Yichang.  (Reporter Zhang Liang and Chen Xi, Correspondent Xu Hui)
