This year, Yichang New District will focus on the linking of new district road network, the improvement of comprehensive function, the creation of green landscape, the promotion of regional development and the link of city groups, and start 278 new projects and continue the construction of those projects already begun, with a total investment of 163.6 billion yuan, including 88 key construction projects with an investment of 112.23 billion yuan. It will strive to build an urban area of 190 square kilometers by the end of this year with a modern and mega city taking shape. This is learned by the reporter from the 2016 Project Promoting Working Meeting in Yichang New District on 25th Feb.

The 88 major construction projects includes the opening to traffic of Zhixi Yangtz River Bridge and Jiangnan Urban Main Road in June this year, the operation of Hankou-Yichang Highway in September, the completion of the extension section of Dongshan Road by the end of this year, the starting of the supporting road construction of CBD in March, the beginning of the removal work of Wujia District Yangtz River Bridge in March, the completion and normalized opening of Yichang Planning Exhibition Hall in April. The new campuses of Yichang No.1 High School and Yiling Middle School and Teenagers’ Educational Practice Base will be put into use in autumn session. Yichang University for the Elderly and the new campus of Yichang Municipal Party School will be fully completed by the end of this year. So is with the Gymnasium of Yichang Olympic Center. The first stage project of Seeking to Create Center will be completed in June. The construction of landscape nude, sidewalk and roadway in Moji Mountain Park will be completed by the first half of this year, and will be fully open by the end of this year.

As for the megacity construction task, the operating rate of road and bridge construction will reach 95% and the completion rate will reach 80% by the end of this year. The inner ring road and the outer ring road of the three grade ring roads linked by the 4 Yangtz River Bridges will be set up; the arteries including Zhongnan Road, Heyi Road and Gangyao road will initiate a further extension to realize a complete network. Yichang plans to construct 36 landscape projects and 80-kilometer greenway with 75% completion rate of urban area green space construction. It will accelerate the construction of the east railway station district, eastern district, Shatang Shiban district, Wulong Juanqiao River district and the Olympic Center district to promote the integration and development of its talents, production, urban and rural areas. 

At the conference, the promotion office of Yichang New District signed target responsibility documents respectively with 10 such municipal units as the district government officials, the Municipal Development and Reform Commission and Municipal Finance Bureau. Modalling after the implementation plan of SFTZ, Yichang New District for the first time takes the finished construction work of the district governments and relevant municipal departments into the target assessment so as to strengthen responsibility, definite tasks and boost energy.(Reporter: Huang Chunmei, Chencheng, Correspondent: Xin Quxuan)
