During the “Thirteenth-Five-Year” plan, the New District of Yichang will take the Yangtze River as a central axis to expand its development scale on both sides of the River; it will also extend along the River and consolidate its development in the central part. On Feb. 25, it was learned from the promotion office of Yichang New District that the “Thirteenth-Five-Year” Blueprint has been drawn. 

During the “Thirteenth-Five-Year” plan, the New District of Yichang will be constructed in two stages. The first stage is from 2016 to 2017, in which the construction of the District is to realize its phased objective of “reaching the planned scale within five years”. The second stage is from 2018 to 2020, in which the construction of the District will follow the general thought of improving relevant facilities, attracting more people, extending its scale and promoting the development of the whole district so that the built-up area of the New District can reach 100 square kilometers, accommodate one million people, cover 220 square kilometers with infrastructural facilities, and help to build Yichang as a regional node city in the Yangtze Economic Zone and a central city among the Three Gorges Urban Clusters by the end of 2020.

The planned projects mainly include: the construction of the municipal infrastructures, garden landscape, facilities for public services, social investment projects, land expropriation and affordable housing projects. (Reporters: Huang Chunmei and Chen Cheng)
