With the eastward expansion of Yichang, Wujianggang District will be the center of the new modern city and the construction of education facilities is pressing.  Twenty three schools will be enlarged and relocated during the period of “Thirteenth Five-year Plan” in the District, according to relative parties on April 19th.

As the main arena of Yichang’s construction as a modern megacity, the economic and social development in Wujiagang District has been at an amazing speed with its increasingly perfect urban function.  By 2020, Wujiagang District will have approximately 16,800 more primary- school-age students and 8,400 secondary-school-age students, according to the gathering condition of population in the new district and the related estimate standards of the State, Hubei province and Yichang city. These newly increased students mainly locate in Zhongnan Road area, Dongyan Road area, Heyi Road area, WuLin Road Baisha area, Dongzhan area, Huayan area and so on. However, the constructions of primary and middle schools still lag within the scope of the new district and the school facilities are almost in a blank state, making it unavailable for children to come to the nearest school.  The rapid economic development and the booming of population requires  matched educational facilties and standards, thus the new construction,  reconstruction and extended construction of a series of schools is an urgency.

According to the school construction project in “Thirteenth Five-year Plan”, ten primary schools and five middle schools will be newly constructed——Dongyanlu Primary School, Yuejiachong  Primary School, Dongzhanlu Primary School, Chengdong Primary School, Jvcheng Primary School, Linjiangping Primary School, Heyi Primary School, Gonglian Primary School, Lianhe Primary School and Hongwei Primary School, Lianhe Middle School, Huoguang Middle School, Hongwei Middle School, Baisha Middle School and Yinhulu Middle School. Two primary schools will be relocated and constructed—— Huayan Primary School and Wujiagang Primary School. Two primary schools will be expanded——Lijiahu Primary School and Yangchalu Primary School. Four primary schools will be reconstructed and expanded——Wujianggangqu Experimental Primary School, Longzhonglu Primary School, Dagongqiao Primary School and Wanshouqiao Primary School. (Reporter: Cao Yu)
