According to the Municipal Association for Science, the city has built 35 academicians and experts workstations up to now, of which 17 workstations are led by academicians and 18 workstations are headed by experts. They cover many pillar industries, including hydropower, chemical, medicament and biology and mechanical mechanism. Provincial and Municipal finance allocated 9.52 million yuan for building the workstations, whose quantity and quality top Hubei province.

With the continuous expansion of number and influence of the city’s academicians and expert’s workstations, many enterprises in Yichang, which play an important role of platform and leading power, enthusiastically apply for constructing academicians and expert’s workstations. This year there are four companies, including Hubei Sanjiang Space River Chemical Co., Ltd., Changyang Yongxing Ecological Animal Husbandry Technology Co., Ltd., Yichang Repair Science & Technology Group and Hubei Feng Lian Jia Wo Agricultural Development Co.Ltd., which have signed the agreement of constructing workstations with academicians and are waiting for the approval of Provincial Association for Science.  

A large number of academicians and experts came to Yichang, including Shu Ziyang, professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Zhang Zhonghua, chief researcher of National Institute of Metrology, China,Ting Dongfu, professor of Plant Science and Technology Institute of Huazhong Agricultural University, Zong Maochen, expert of Tea Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jian Fanggui, researcher in Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Science, Huang Boyun, president of Central South University and other academician, Shi Jingwu, dean of the Power and Mechanical Engineering Institute of Wuhan University, Lv Yima, assistant of the president in Beijing Forestry University and other professors, and established academicians and experts workstations in cooperation with the Yichang enterprises. Academician and experts workstations have played an important role in many aspects, such as gathering resources for innovation, solving technical problems, accelerating the construction of technological innovation system, effectively promoting the close cooperation among industries, schools and scientific research institutions, further driving the city\'s economic transition and upgrading as well as speeding up the innovation-driven development.
