In recent years, Yihua Group has made considerable progress in environmental protection under the guidance of the concept of green development. From 2013 to 2015, Yihua Group has cumulatively invested 900 million yuan on equipment construction and upgrading of environmental protection facilities, concerning dust, smoke, water, odor and solid waste management. Taking Xiaoting as an example, in 2015, the acceptance rate of its water and gas discharge opening of online detection reached 100%, the test data of its groundwater monitoring points, and the surrounding source of drinking water were up to the standard; the test data of the upstream area of the plants and those of cross section of Yangtze River downstream were almost identical.

Meanwhile, all subsidiaries of Yihua were equipped with equipment to monitor the dust, yawp and peculiar smell, and made effort to improve the surroundings and environment in plant, which got the praises from the neighbors. On September 3th, 2013, Yihua, as an enterprise representative, attended the China Petrochemical Association Energy Conversation and Emissions Reduction Exchange Conference and made a speech on “Implementation of Green Economy and Taking the Road of Sustainable Development”. It successively had the honor to get—“Water-Saving Enterprise,” and “Energy-Saving Emission Reduction Demonstration Enterprise”, which were respectively issued by Hubei Provincial Department of Water Resources and China Petrochemical Association.

“It is inevitable that industrial production leads to waste water, waste gas and waste residue. However, Yihua turned the ‘three wastes’ into ‘three treasures’ and utilized all wastes circularly.” Yang Xiaoqin, chief engineer of Yihua Group, said, “Yihua regards the wastes as misplaced resource.” The output of the by-products, including gas slag, boiler slag, sulfuric acid residue, sediment, carbide slag, flue dust, fly ash in Yihua Group is more than a million tons each year. First, the workers put the gasification slag into the thermal power plant boiler to generate electricity. At the same time, they regarded the boiler slag as raw material for cement plants. Through the recycle, 0.3 million tons of coal were saved and 1 million tons waste residue was dealt per year as well as more than 50 million yuan was earned.

Besides, the waste residue--sulphur, which resulted from the section of ammonia desulfurization, was utilized as a raw material of sulfuric acid in phosphorus chemical industry. The company recycled 10 million tons of sulphur per year, which was worth nearly 10 million yuan; Carbide slag, resulting from producing PVC, was used as desulfurizing agent for thermal power plant flue gas desulfurization and the neutralizer in phosphoric acid fluorine-containing wastewater, achieving the goal of utilization of waste products.

Low-carbon environmental protection is a kind of competitive power. Yihua Group will invest 6 billion yuan to upgrade and remould the ammonia coal gasification devices in the five subsidiaries in 2016. It will adopt the most advanced technologies in current world, including clean water-coal-slurry gasification, steam-driven centrifugal compressor and low pressure ammonia synthesis. It is predicated that, after the upgrading and reconstruction, the consumption of ammonia and coal can be reduced about 200 kg per ton; the integrated power consumption of ammonia can be declined about 400 kwh per ton; the labor productivity can be increased by 50%; the cost of ammonia can be reduced about 600 yuan per ton.
