According to the Xinhua News Agency, the Three Gorges Hydro-hub substantially increased the record discharges on May 15th, which hit 22,000 cubic meters per second, the latest record in this year. The water level in the Three Gorges Reservoir thereby declined rapidly.
On May 14th and 15th, the outflow reached more than 22,000 cubic meters per second, the largest amount of outflow since 2003 when the reservoir commenced with water storage.
The water level of the Three Gorges Dam accelerated to decline owing to the increased-discharges. From 2:00 to 20:00 on May 15th the declined water level was at the height of 0.66 meters.
At 20:00 on May 15th, , the water level of the Three Gorges Dam was 154.17m, which has entered the range of last ten meters of the limit water level for flood control. (Reporter Tan Yuanbin)
