2016-06-29 08:45:10
During the Dragon Boat Festival, 1,889,200 travelers visited Yichang, bringing a total tourism income of 933 million yuan.
After the opening ceremony of Dragon Boat Cultural Festival in Quyuan’s hometown, a series of activities were held by the scenic spots in Zigui County, including Dragon Boat custom experiencing tour, Jiuwanxi drift, and mountain climbing in Lianziyan, Sixi health tour as well as a water carnival named Dragon Boat Racing at the Hometown of Quyuan. All such diverse folk custom tours attracted a large number of tourists. To be specific, 32.5 thousand tourists visited Quyuan’s hometown during the Festival, which realized revenue of 1.68 million yuan, a respective increase of 14.29% and 16.05% over those of last year.
Besides the folk custom tours, various kinds of food helped a lot in attracting tourists. On June 7th, a characteristic snack street named Dragon Boat Cuisine was opened on the walking street of Jiefang Road, featuring Yichang local specials along with hundreds of kinds of specialties of national cuisines, ranging from Taiwan oyster omelet, fried shrimp, Korean fried rice cake and steamed bread, to the local specials like smoked pig's hooves and baked potatoes.
On June 7th, Yichang Tourism Bureau published 13 classic self-drive tour routes for the first time, together with the Self-drive Tour and RV Camping Branch of Hubei Tour Association. This measure stimulated the citizen’s enthusiasm for self-drive tour. Similarly, the local governments at all levels also recommended their rural travel routes and relevant recreation activities, such as picking fruits and vegetables, boating and fishing. To be specific, a lot of tourists were attracted by Yuan’an leisure tourism activities such as camping in Jinjiawan, RV camping, timber house hotel, barbecue adventure and Zhaijialing environmental tour activity. The first Watermelon Picking Activity held in Xiaoting District and Lily Garden in Baimuping Village, Yiling District was popular, too.
As the Dragon Boat Festival holidays began immediately after China's General College Entrance Examination, many parents chose traveling to help their children relax, hence there were notably more families and students traveling. To cater for their needs, many scenic spots marketed their discount service on Tongcheng, Xiecheng, Meituan, Tu’niu and other renowned websites. For example, the Three Gorges Waterfall was a popular spot for students since it provided a journey of Three Gorges Waterfall, Jinshidong Cave and Lovers’ spring for only 99 yuan, including traffic expenditures.   (Reporter: Wang Ying)
