It’s reported from the Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development yesterday that three expressways will be built next year in urban areas in Yichang, including No.3 Shengli Road-Gangyao Road (Yiling Yangtze River Bridge-Xiazhou Avenue), Gangyao Road (Xiazhou Avenue-Yichang to Badong Expressway) and Huaxi Road (Xiazhou Avenue-Yichang to Badong Expressway).
It is known that the No.3 Shengli Road-Gangyao Road (Yiling Yangtze River Bridge-Xiazhou Avenue), with a length of six kilometers, intersects with many roads like Dongshan Avenue, Stadium Road and Chengdong Avenue, and will improve the connection between the downtown of the old city and the expressway network after its completion. Gangyao Road (Xiazhou Avenue-Yichang to Badong Expressway) and Huaxi Road (Xiazhou Avenue-Yichang to Badong Expressway), covering respectively 12 kilometers and 10 kilometers, are rapid passages out of the city, which extend northward from the downtown area to the suburb and will reduce the distance between the urban area and the northern counties, cities and districts including Yiling District.
Yichang City Construction Project Management Center has held an open bidding on the design of these three expressways to the whole country, attracting a large number of design companies, with six passing the qualification evaluation including Central and Southern China Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CSMDI) and Wuhan Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. . At the end of September, the final approved company, according to the plan, will be selected after experts’ review to start the project within this year and complete the preliminary work in the first half year of 2017.
