2016-09-12 16:40:27

On September 5th, reporters informed from Yichang Forestry Department that “Kiwifruit Characteristic Industry Development Plan (2016-2025)” (hereinafter referred to as the Plan) which was compiled by the Forestry Bureau of Yichang City was approved by Yichang municipal government. The government affirmed that the Plan was in line with relevant policies of the development of national ecology and forestry industry. Since the Plan is featured with accurate positioning, rational layout, proactivity and operability, it plays an important role in promoting kiwifruit industry in Yichang.

Yichang is the first internationally recognized commercial origin of kiwifruit, so that it has abundant resources and brand advantages to develop kiwifruit. Standing at the height of promoting supply-side structural reforms, adjusting and optimizing the plant production structure, and implementing targeted poverty reduction, the municipal Party committee and municipal government held a special meeting of developing kiwifruit industry on August 26, 2015, proposing “highlighting brand culture and creating the world kiwifruit industry” and explicitly requiring “the kiwifruit industry to be developed as a special industry with great support".

According to the requirement of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government, the City Forestry Bureau has promptly made the work plan and arrangement in terms of the germplasm <D:/YoudaoDict/6.3.69.5012/resultui/frame/javascript:void(0);> resource investigation <D:/YoudaoDict/6.3.69.5012/resultui/frame/javascript:void(0);>, industrial development planning, breeding test, recognition of high quality seeds, etc. On the basis of extensive research in fruit markets and small-scale kiwifruit bases, the City Forestry Bureau took advice from leaders, experts, farmers and consumers, and accomplished planning formulation in early August this year. Wu Jinhu, professor and doctor of New Zealand Royal Institute of Plant and Food, provided strong technical support for the plan.

Featured by the brand culture of the source kiwifruit area, the “Plan” will create the most unique green and people-enriching industry in accordance with the overall layout of "one center and six parts, two nurseries and more gardens". Our goal is that by 2020, the city's kiwifruit industrial base will reach 124,500 mu with the annual output of 110,000 tons and the total value of over 3 billion yuan. By 2025, it will reach 160,000 mu with the annual output of 210,000 tons and a total value of over 10 billion yuan.(Reporter Li Pengfei, correspondent Ke Xiaoyu)
