　　The Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge was opened to traffic on July 18th, after that, the Baiyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge was to kick off on August 8th, which is the eighth Yangtze River bridge in Yichang city.
　　On that day, Huang Chuping, the Provincial Committee and Party Secretary and Ma Xuming, the Deputy Secretary of Municipal Party Committee came to the site and conducted a special investigations on the construction of the bridge.
　　After being informed from the man in charge of the Provincial Transportation Group, Huang fully affirmed the outstanding contributions made by the Group and expressed his gratitude to all participants. He noted that, in recent years, with the joint efforts of all sectors of the city, we have built a number of symbolic, driving and supportive transportation projects, which achieved earthshaking changes in the transportation system. As the eighth Yangtze River highway bridge, Baiyang-Yangtze River Highway Bridge has been regarded as an important channel connecting the western Hubei and the western Hunan and it also is a control project in Yichang-Zhangjiajie Highway. Meanwhile it plays significant role in improving the surrounding transportation network, developing the alongside resources and optimizing the regional economic layout. The construction of the bridge not only is a long-awaited event for the people on either side, but also a major event in Yichang economic and social development. Huang said, he wish every unit involved can make every endeavor to promote the sound and rapid bridge construction that can help construct a regional transport hub and make new and greater contribution to the creation of an integrated transportation system.
　　As to accelerating the construction, Ma said, the construction of Baiyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge is essential to the overall economic and social development and people’s livelihood and their well-being in Yichang, which will benefit our future generations. Every relevant participant and department should actively provide the best services for the construction unit in order to ensure the quality. The construction unit should organize scientifically and construct carefully to ensure the safety and to guarantee the process. Subsequently, the Baiyang Yangtze River Bridge is bound to be a safe and livelihood project with high quality, good governance, which would make great contribution to the modern mega-cities development.
　　Long Chuanhua, the general manager of the Provincial Transportation Group, said, the Baiyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge is an important part of G59, the national highway network and the expressway from Hohhot to Beihai. It connects the Dangyang -Zhijiang highway in  north and the highway from Yidu to the boarder of Hubei and Hunan in south, which can be called a veritable expressway throat of the Yichang-Zhangjiajie Highway. The Provincial Transportation Group would adhere to high-standards in design and construction and high efficiency management to ensure the early completion of the project so that it will be to open to the public earlier and benefit people earlier.
　　It is informed that the starting point was located in BaiYang Linchang, the high-tech zone in Yichang Gaoxin district. It connected Dangyang-Zhijiang section in Yichang-Zhangjiajie Highway and goes across the Yangtze River at Qinjiahe River. It passes through Lucheng, Yidu city, Yaojiadian and Zhicheng and ends in Zhicheng then connects Yichang-Zhangjiajie Highway, with the length of 15.691km, of which 2671m was Yangtze River Bridge. It is designed as the twin towers of steel truss girder suspension bridge with main span of 1000 meters. The wiring length is 13.02km with two-way six-lane standard. The design speed is 100km per hour and the roadbed is 33.5 meters width.
　　Reporter was informed that we have set one Yangtze River Bridge, seven medium and large bridges, three separate bridges and one interchange (Yidu). There is one toll station, one conservation work area and one monitoring and control center along the bridge complex. The total budget of the preliminary design is 3.385 billion yuan with duration of four years.
