On September 25, Huang Zhihua, Chairman of Yichang High-tech Industry Investment Holding Group and Joseph Melamed, vice President of Israel Aerospace Industries Company officially signed the memorandum of freighter conversion of Boeing 777. Ma Xuming, mayor and deputy secretary of Municipal Party Committee, Zhuang Guangming, Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Yichang High-tech Zone, vice mayor Zhou Zhengying, and Joel Cohen, senior consultants of the cooperation between Israel and China attended the meeting.

At the ceremony, Ma Xuming said that Yichang government will provide better service to create the best environment for development and fully support Israel Aerospace Industries’ prosperity in Yichang. He also hoped that both two sides will further deepen cooperation to jointly promote more and better projects to land in the Three Gorges Airport Economic Zone based on the principle of complementary advantages, mutual benefit and common development.

Melamed said that two sides will actively cooperate to promote the Project’s launch as soon as possible, and strive to build the Three Gorges Airport Economic Zone into a world-class base for aircraft maintenance, repair and conversion, so as to promote the development of aviation industry in Yichang.

Following the opening of Brady Lingyun Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd. at the beginning of the year, Yichang Hi-Tech Industrial Investment Holding Group and the Israeli Aerospace Industries Company cooperated to develop the freighter conversion of Israel Boeing 777 aircraft. Through the cooperation, both sides obtain the freighter conversion STC certificate of Boeing 777 aircraft. And then they will offer a serial of services including aircraft conversion, package modification manufacturing business, technical service for freighter conversion all over the world, and the Boeing 777 freighter conversion business in the Airport Economic Zone.

It is learned that the Boeing 777 is the world's largest twin-engine wide-body passenger aircraft. The cooperation will drive the development of the all-round industrial chain of Yichang’s civil aviation covering R&D, manufacturing and maintenance, which become a new milestone of promoting the rapid development of the Three Gorges Airport Economic Zone.
