On September 27th, reporters learned from the Tea Bureau of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County that Wufeng was selected as one of the National Top Ten Charming Tea Hometowns, the only tea producing area in Hubei province in the 2016 “National Top Ten Charming Tea Hometowns” selection activity sponsored by the Tea Industry Committee of China Association for the promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation and Tourism Cooperation Specialized Committee of China Society of Cooperative Economics.

It was reported that the 2016 “National Top Ten Charming Tea Hometowns” selection activity was officially started on June 1st for its collection of participating units, and thirty two well-known hometowns of tea from Anhui, Fujian, Guangxi and other traditional tea producing areas participated in the selection. After online voting and experts evaluating, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County was successfully selected as the only one in Hubei Province .

Wufeng is a famous hometown of tea in China. There are more 60 thousand mu tea bases and 40 thousand mu of pollution-free tea gardens in the whole county. The tea income accounts for 1/3 of the income of local farmers. (Reporter Yan Xiaodong , Correspondent Wang Dengfu)
