180 Thousand People Signing with Family Doctors in Yichang City

“Would you mind coming to my home for my kid’s high fever and vomiting?” At 19:00 on October 22, Shi Zhonglin, a general practitioner of the Community Health Service Station in Dongshan Garden, received this call for help.
Zhang Shuntian, was the ten-year-old patient living in the 16th floor in Dongshan Garden. As his family doctor, Zhang Shuntian and the nurse immediately rushed to the scene with the thermometer, antipyretic, etc. The patient’s body temperature was controlled after a preliminary diagnosis. Then he was sent to the service station to receive treatment by Shi Zhonglin after he was out of danger.
When reporters asked Shi Zhonglin whether the cost of the door-to-door service would be high, he smiled and said that the doctor’s visits were free.
From this year, the Health and Family Planning Commission of Yichang carried out services signed with family doctors in urban areas of Yichang city. This service preferentially covered the aged, pregnant women, patients with tuberculosis and severe psychosis, and the high-risk group with chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus and so on.
At present, over 180 thousand people have completed the signing with family doctors in Yichang city. Related officials of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Yichang told reporters that after our citizens signed with these kinds of groups, they would have access to these service policies beneficial for people in the aspects of seeing a doctor, treatment transformation, medicine use, medical insurance, etc. In addition to have access to this kind of service-signed packages of “16 free items and 11 preferential items”(including these 16 free items of management towards the aged, children under 6 years old, pregnant women, patients with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, tuberculosis, severe psychosis, etc.; while 11 preferential items of X-Ray, B-scan ultrasonography, ECG, blood routine examination, etc.), according to the agreement, the family doctors team would provide contracted residents with various kinds of services like entire service, door-to-door service, uncrowded service, reservation service and so on; they would have resources with certain proportion such as experts’ tickets, appointment tickets, bed-ordered and so on, which was convenient for these contracted residents to see a doctor and be in hospitalization; according to those patients with chronic diseases, family doctors could take the extension of one-time prescription-making dosage and reduction of the frequency of patients’ going to the hospital to get some medicine back and forth into consideration, which would provide contracted residents with more conveniences and benefits, and achieve the goal of “every family would have their own family doctors, while everyone has access to the health services” step by step.
