On December 8, a forum for foreign experts was held in Yichang, and the foreign experts who have been working in Yichang were invited to speak at length about an old friendship and seek common developments in the forum. Lan Yin, deputy mayor of Yichang, attended the meeting. “Yichang was a fair place tending to produce outstanding people” 、“There were beautiful sceneries and friendly people in Yichang, which made people didn’t want to leave here” 、“I have even told others that I was from Yichang”… In the forum, Victor Dobra, a Romanian expert, and other 3 representative experts all coming from the Da Men Shipping Co. Ltd. told about their working lives in Yichang, which expressed their deep love to Yichang.
Up to December, the number of the resident foreign experts working in Yichang reached more than 60, all of them came from over 30 countries around the world and worked in various fields like mechanical manufacture, shipping and metallurgy, food and medicine, light industry and education, etc. As a Romanian expert of Da Men Shipping Co. Ltd., Victor Dobra was awarded the “Chimes Prize” by Hubei provincial government in 2016, and he has become the 16th foreign expert winning such laurel in Yichang since 1996.
During the meeting, 5 units were appraised as advanced units introducing foreign intelligence, including Municipal Agriculture Bureau, Yichang Da Men Shipping Co. Ltd, Yichang Hou Huang Vacuum Science and Technology Co. Ltd., Tu Lao Han Ecological Agriculture Science and Technology Co. Ltd and Jin Bao Music Instrument Manufacture Co. Ltd.., and Lan Yin awarded bonuses and certificates to the winning units.
Before the meeting, leaders in the Municipal Foreign Affairs Office organized the foreign experts to visit the Municipal Planning Museum.
