It was learned on December 21st from Yichang Custom that the total import and export in foreign trade of Yichang totaled a value of 15.7 billion yuan (RMB, similarly hereinafter) in the first 11 months of this year, a decrease of 7.9% as compared with that of the previous year. To be specific, the export amounted to 13.65 billion yuan, a decrease of 8% while the import was 2.05 billion yuan in total, a fall of 7.2% while its five counties’ and cities’ gross foreign trade import and export volume achieved positive growth.   
Statistics show that in the first 11 months, Yichang’s foreign trade import and export volume accounted for 6.6% of the total of Hubei Province, a decrease of 0.4% as compared with the same period of last year. Meanwhile, those volumes of Yichang City, Dangyang City, Changyang Tujia Autonomous County, Zigui County and Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County all achieved positive growth with an increase of 27.5%, 25.2%, 10.7%, 4.1% and 4.7 times respectively.  
In the same period, the city’s general import and export volume totaled 13.58 billion yuan; though a decrease by 5.1%, it accounts for 86.5% of the gross import and export volume of the same period. Besides, the city’s import and export of processing trade reached 2.02 billion yuan.
The private enterprises’ import and export volume maintain sustained growth. The trade volume reached 8.9 billion yuan in the first 11 months this year, increased by 20.4%, accounting for 56.7% of the city’s whole value of the same time, while that of the foreign-owned enterprises was 0.89 billion, an increase of 7.4%, and those of the state-owned enterprises and Sino-foreign joint ventures fell by 36.1% and 22.1% respectively.     
In the same period, the city’s total bilateral trade volume with Pakistan grew significantly by 67.9% with its main export product ---- diammonium hydrogen phosphate reaching an export value of 0.5 billion yuan, an increase of 84.5%, while those with AESAN and EU each totaled 2.56 billion and 1.81 billion, increased by 17.5% and 17% respectively, and those with India, the USA and Japan fell by 46.4%, 12.2% and 12.9%, respectively.    
It is worth mentioning that Yichang’s high value-added export products are growing and the structure of export products continues to be optimized, and emerging industries such as consumer electronics, high-end manufacturing continue their growth and the export of pharmaceuticals shows an increasing trend. In the first 11 months, the city’s export of mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products increased by 18.5% and 51.5% respectively. Judging from commodity types, the export of some mechanical and electrical products and high-tech products maintains the rapid growth, for instance, the export of LCD color analog television receivers amounted to 0.31 billion yuan, an increase of 219.3 times.            
In addition, under the international market price effect, chemical fertilizer, Yichang’s main export commodity, had an export value of 3.46 billion yuan, falling by 38.4% in the first 11 months.
