Reporters yesterday learned from the Yichang Traffic Bureau that the first batch of 18 new energy buses arrived, and this would be the first use of electric buses in Yichang. It is reported that there will be 90 new energy buses arriving in Yichang before December 25th, and all the 108 new energy buses will "go into service " around New Year’s Day.

The driver who also participated in the test said:” The engine is in the rear of natural gas bus, whose surface is bossed, and if tall men stand in the rear of the bus, they will feel very depressed because their heads are very close to bus’s roof; while with low floor, whether standing in front or the rear of the electric bus, passengers will not have depressing feelings.” Moreover, new energy bus starts slowly, moves more smoothly, moves to a lesser extent as the bus comes to a screeching halt at a traffic light.

All of the number 27 ordinary buses will be replaced by new energy buses
The reporter learned that, there will be 90 new energy buses arriving in Yichang before December 25th, in addition to the 18 new energy buses which arrived in Yichang on December 22nd, it is expected that the 108 new energy buses will go into service around New Year's Day.
"The first batch of 18 new energy buses will be used to replace the number 27 ordinary buses, the remaining 90 buses of new energy buses will be used to replace those buses which run on the roads in the main areas of the city and the dedicated bus lanes of BRT." For the convenience of the new energy bus charging, the Bus Company also cooperated with Yichang Three Gorges Power Company to construct 3charging stations, 30 charging points with the domestic maximum power 360KW.
An official from the Municipal Transportation Bureau said, the use of new energy buses will make a contribution to the improvement of the air quality in Yichang.
