According to the report of Xinhua News Agency on January 6, the Three Gorges Navigation Bureau announced that the throughput of passengers and cargos in Three Gorges Ship Lock reached 130.5 million tons, exceeding 30 percent of the designed annual amount in the ship lock. Compared with the year of 2015, an increase of 1.04 million tons has reached a historical high record    .
With the national strategy of Yangtze River Economic Belt promoted steadily, the lockage demand in Three Gorges Reaches has been keeping an active tendency, and there are nearly 300 ships waiting for the lock everyday in recent years. Up to now, the Three Gorges Ship Lock has achieved safe and high-efficiency operation conditions and made an obvious benefit for its navigation.
Among all the ship locks built in the world, the Three Gorges Project Double-line and Five-grade Ship Lock is the inland lock with most continuous series and the highest total head and interstage water head. Since the Three Gorges Ship Lock was put into operation in June, 2003, its throughput has increased rapidly and firstly broken through hundred million tons in 2011, and then it appeared a high stability.
