On March 8, from the Leading Group Office of the Special Rectification of Swindling the Old Consumers, the reporters learned that recently 16 member units continuously have taken measures to purify the consumption environment of the old people, the items needed rectification including the market order for the old people’s consumption, illegal medicine practice and illegal medical ads.

　　The Leading Group Office of the Municipal Special Rectification convened the first work conference of the member units whose present members were all from the Politics and Law Committee of Municipal Party Committee, the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Public Security Bureau. The Members’ Liabilities List of the Special Rectification Units was given out on the conference, which put forward clearly the responsibilities of work and the work focus of the next stage for each member unit. The checking action would be organized constantly nowadays by the Municipal Public Security Bureau, the Municipal Industrial and Commercial Bureau, the Municipal Health and Planning Commission, the Municipal Prices Bureau etc., so as to enhance the control and focus on defense to investigate a batch of typical cases and would give severe and strict punishments to them.

　　As was known that at present 44 cases were filed in the Municipal Industrial and Commercial Bureau, which included one case of infringement of consumer rights, 6 cases of illegal ads, 36 cases of false propaganda and one case of unlicensed business activities; and 9 cases of unlicensed medicine practice were checked out and filed by the Municipal Health and Planning Bureau, two of them were forbidden; one case of unlicensed dealing in food was checked out and filed by the FDA (Food and Drug Authority) and two companies with illegal food business were ordered rectification; and 8 commercial hotels were checked by Municipal Commercial Affair Bureau. A batch of typical cases filed and investigated was exposed to the public by the municipal media in order to warn the old consumers and frighten the illegal actions of swindling the old people.
