On the morning of Mar. 6th, a meeting in memory of the 107th International Women’s Day was held in Yichang City with the theme of “Awarding Prominent Women and Welcoming the 19th CCCPC)”. Wang Juncheng, the standing committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Yichang Municipal Committee, attended the meeting and gave a speech. Other leading figures who attended the meeting are Wu Kangnian, Zhang Peng and Wang Renjun.

　　Wang Juncheng sent wishes to all the women and employees from the Women’s Federation in his speech. He said that in 2016 women’s federations in the whole city, with the central work of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government as the core, have fulfilled their duties and united all the women to devote to the economic and social development with the sense of ownership. They made breakthroughs in base construction, gained momentum in entrepreneurial innovation and reputation in securing rights. Besides, they also posed influence on family development and had highlights in childhood education, exhibiting an image of hardworking and dedicative women constantly striving for improvement and innovation. Wang also pointed out that all the women and women’s federations should deeply understand the connotation of their jobs at present, and fully comprehend the basic state policy of equality between women and men. They should also increase awareness and emphasis on developing undertakings of women and children, and become conscious of women’s role. In addition, women’s federations need to increase their working efficiency, ready to assist women to take initiatives in serving the overall situation and fulfilling their duties. Centering on the function of “women, children and family”, they are supposed to handle concrete affairs, do something beneficial, and solve difficulties. What’s more, solid foundation should be laid to support women’s federations’ work; platform should be built for cadres’ exchange and training; reform should be deepened in women’s federation’s system in order to foster good working atmosphere for women’s federations and open up a new situation in undertakings of women and children.

　　At the meeting, honors have also been given to advanced women models, to demonstration bases in poverty alleviation, to women who played a leading role in overcoming poverty, and to companies that did well in counties performance appraisal.
