To Build Yichang into Volunteers’ City

  In the afternoon of March 3rd, the Municipal Commission of Communist Youth League of China held a mobilization meeting themed “Youth First for a Volunteer City” and officially released the monthly key volunteer service activities in 2017, aiming to build Yichang into a city of volunteers.

  The volunteer service activities are as follows:

  “Ecological Yichang”--- white trash cleaning in January;

  “Warm Winter Action”--- volunteer service in Yichang East Station during the spring rush in February;

  “Angel of Love”--- caring for the underprivileged teenagers in March;

  Visiting the grant-aided college students under the “Hope Project” in April;

  “Laborers’ Trip”--- caring for the grassroots workers in May;

  “Let Dreams Fly”--- psychological counseling for senior middle school students preparing for the college entrance examination in June;

  “Be Thankful”--- thanksgiving experience for the teenagers in July;

  “Hope Project” ---visiting underprivileged university students in August;

  “Little Charitable Angel” --- volunteer service publicity campaign in September;

  “Respecting the Elderly” --- visiting the elderly people living alone in October;

  “Help Children of Migrant workers ” activity in November;

  Volunteers training and experience sharing meeting in December.

  According to Lu Wu, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Commission of Communist Youth League of China, in next phase, the Commission will focus on regularizing the standard of volunteer services, perfecting legislative guarantee for volunteer service, strengthening the volunteer service positions and project construction, and making volunteer service more scientific. Meanwhile, the focal point will be to create “Be Right by Your Side” series of volunteer service brand, to strive to establish a “10- minute volunteer service circle” initially in the urban area and to actively promote the socialization, communalization, specialization, informationand internationalization of volunteer service.(Reporter: Yang Chunyan)
