Our reporter came to the Yichang Three Gorges Over-dam Logistics Industrial Zone in Hubei Province on Feb 27. He witnessed a busy and booming viaduct construction spot--- more than ten workers were concreting box beams with 55 mechanical stamping working together.

　　Huang Han, the supervisor of Yichang Tianyu Engineering Limited Company in charge of this project for construction and freight, told our reporter that they were adopting the “forced” mechanism to push the procedure due to the heavy construction tasks.

　　It’s reported that 516.41 million RMB will be invested to build Three Gorges Over-dam Logistics Industrial Zone, occupying 321603 square meters overall with logistics business service area, logistics vehicle service area and 746 over-ground parking spaces. The construction of this project will be divided into three phases: the first phase for establishing logistics vehicle service area; the second for catering, business and hotel services and the third phase for information service area. “To build this bidirectional 6-lane viaduct, which is 26 meters wide, 350 meters long and 10 meters high, is to improve passing efficiency by differentiating social vehicles from logistics ones” said Huangping, the head of investment department in Zixi Territory Company.

　　Three Gorges Over-dam Logistics Industrial Zone has to start its operation on July 1 as scheduled. Currently, works of land requisition and demolition related to this project have been solved and the preparatory works for earlier stage have been done and they are working on bid and tender at present. The integrated service center for Three Gorges Over-dam Logistics Industrial Zone will run into construction in mid-to-end of March.

　　Hubei Three Gorges Modern Logistics Limited Company have done many works to conserve ecological environment, including setting required fences around construction sites, carrying construction waste by making use of closed-end equipment, covering dust–proof cloth and spraying water to reduce dust as for those sediments, sand and other materials that are easy to raise dust. Vehicles served the construction have to be washed before and after their entrance to the construction site, and concrete is provided by professional manufacturer and the mix of concrete should not operate on the spot in the seasons when dust is easy to be raised. The construction period will be shortened once the land has been excavated and measures will be taken to backfill the exposed surface to prevent water and soil erosion. The ratio of green space is required to reach 26.5% due to their endeavor.

　　It’s said that the construction of integrated service center of Three Gorges Over-dam Logistics Industrial Zone will provide favorable supporting services for the harmony of “harbor, industrial, citizen and city” and connected operation of the industrial park by “waterway, railway, highway and aviation’, which is worth billions.

　　After the completion, Three Gorges Over-dam Logistics Industrial Zone will contribute to local economy by providing 10 thousand employment vacancies and increasing 1 billion RMB for fiscal revenue and relieving the pressure of Three Gorges Ship Lock by undertaking 35 million tons of cargo.(Reporter He Baoxi)
