From September 12th to 17th, the Fifth Chinese Poetry Festival, with the theme of “the flourish of poetry reached the dream of China”, would be held in Yichang-----a place with the reputation of “the City of Chinese Poetry”, according to the report on August 16th.

　　The Chinese Poetry Festival, which is held every three years, is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and China Writers Association, and cosponsored together with the local provincial people’s government. Since 2005, it was held in Ma’an’shan, Anhui Province, Xi'an, Shanxi Province, Xiamen, Fujian Province and Mianyang, Sichuan Province one after another. The Fifth Chinese Poetry Festival was jointly undertaken by the Art Department of Ministry of Culture, Poetry Magazine Agency, Propaganda Department of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, Hubei Cultural Department, Hubei Education Department, Hubei Writers Association and Yichang People’s Government.

　　During the Chinese Poetry Festival, Yichang would hold a series of various cultural & artistic activities of poetry, for example, holding opening and closing ceremonies and theatrical performances, inviting famous poets, scholars and some chief editors of poetry journals at home and abroad to carry out academic exchanges and discussions with themes of “realistic spirits of poetry & social roles of poets” and “contemporariness about patriotic tradition in poetry & writing of poets” as well as organizing two activities of poetry forum; besides, inviting national famous recitation artists to recite classical poems and one hundred-year famous masterpieces among new poems and poems which praise Three Gorges, Yichang and Quyuan, holding masses’ reciting poems activities with the theme of “poetry-in-the-folk” and “poetic campus” activities with the theme of teenagers’ inheriting poems, etc., according to the report.
