Recently, the Ministry of Transport of China issued a notice, which announced the first list of cities to push ahead the construction of transit metropolis in the “13th Five-Year” period. Among the 50 cities selected is Yichang.
The building of the national “Transit Metropolis” is an important act to implement the policy of prioritizing the development of urban public transport, to protect and improve the people’s livelihood, and also an effective way to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction. In principle, the construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020. By then, the Ministry of Transport will carry out the relevant assessment work and award a title of “Transit Metropolis” to those cities which meet the requirements.
Meanwhile, those projects of transportation infrastructure construction, which meet the requirements, will get the guidance, policy and financial support from both the Ministry of Transport and the provincial transportation authorities.
