Lecture Given by Mars Exploration Scientist in Yichang

  A lecture about "China Aerospace: Dream and Practice" was given in Yichang No. 8 High School (an attached middle school to China Three Gorges University) by Dr. Liu Yong, chief expert of Mars exploration at the National Center for Space Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on October 9th.

  Graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2006, Dr. Liu Yong was introduced back to China through the Talents Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2011. He is currently working at the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as chief scientist of the Mars Exploration Program Particle Detector.

  Dr. Liu took nearly an hour to introduce to all the school teachers and students China’s significant developments in manned spaceflight, lunar exploration and other aspects, showing numerous precious pictures of the 7 times when China explored the universe, and looking forward to the prospect of space exploration in the future.

  Subsequently, Dr. Liu and the students had an on-site interactive activity. Dr. Liu answered all the questions enthusiastically asked by the students. This lecture is one of the school’s "Practicing New Education, Listening to the Outside World" initiatives, aiming to cultivate students' interest and ability to explore the mysteries of science and technology, to enhance their desire for science, to love nature, to become useful talents and make contributions for the development of China’s science and technology.
